Jag was just grabbing the old bag of peas they kept just for this purpose out of the freezer when he heard someone walk into the kitchen. He pressed the peas to his bruised cheek, then grabbed a beer out of the fridge, because one more wouldn't hurt. It wasn't like he was drunk. No, he wasn't drunk.

He turned around and smiled at the sight of Em. And no, he wasn't at all a little wobbly on his legs. "Heeey, Emma."

"No, I know," Jag confirmed. " I was just - saying?" He coudn't be expected to hold the best conversation right now, could he? Hopefully not. And here she was, holding on the smoke for a few seconds, and he couldn't help a, "Here, you're doing better!" Except as soon as he'd said it, he hoped she wasn't going to have to cough it out.

She almost managed, exhaling most of it before the cough overtook her. Passing the joint back, she took a sip of water, and then a second when she felt like she wasn't coughing any more. "I probably shouldn't bring my perfectionist side into pot smoking, huh."

"Sounds counter productive," Jag agreed with a grin, eyes brighter for getting stoned.

"That's me. The counter productive stoner." At least she knew she was being a little ridiculous? Unfolding her legs to fold them under her another way, Em leaned against Jag. "This may be why I never tried this before."

"The awesome and sudden urge to cuddle?" Jag asked, shifting the joint to his other hand so he could wrap that arm around her shoulders. "I know, it's fucking terrible."

"Since when do I need to get high to want to cuddle?" she asked, nestling into the circle of his arm. "It's just terrible."

"Fucking awful," Jag agreed, and kissed her hair before turning his head away to take a drag. "Want any more?" he offered, holding it up to her.

"Nah, baby steps," she said, shaking her head. "You enjoy it." Em was good, just like this.

"I'll do my best," Jag confirmed with a grin, and pulled on it again. He was drunk, and stoned, and even more tactile than usual, so he didn't think before he offered, "Y'wanna sleep here tonight?" It seemed so obviously clear to him that it wasn't anything sexual that he didn't even think it might be taken as such.

It didn't even occur to Em it might have been sexual, in spite of their earlier trip down the innuendo rabbit hole. It was Jag. He was with Val, and happily so. And Em was just Em. "Yeah." Because staying here, curled up with Jag sounded a lot better than going back to her room alone.

"Wicked," he stated. "T-shirt and boxers okay?" He'd keep all his clothes on if she insisted, but he really didn't want to have to.

She might have laughed, thinking about Sabine - a habit that hadn't broken, even though she heard the slang often enough here - but his question interrupted the humor. She hadn't thought about that, and okay, naked might have been too much, but other than that, "Yeah, that's fine. Long as I can lose my bra." She'd be comfortable enough in the leggings and t-shirt she'd changed into after getting home, but no bra would be better.

"I will never object to that," Jag assured her mock-solemnly, his words beginning to drawl even more than just the alcohol had ensured.

There may have been a hint of a blush, but Em couldn't tell for certain, so maybe if there was, it didn't show much. But since she didn't need more permission than that, she pulled away enough to unhook the bra through her shirt, and with a few simple moves everyone who'd worn a bra quickly figured out, she had it off and out from under her shirt to drop off the side of the bed. Grinning, but her eyes cast down, she told him, "You have no idea how good that always feels."

Jag watched her as she did it, through hooded eyes, the potential creep factor of doing so not really registering. She was doing it right here beside him, why shouldn't he look. "I really haven't," he confirmed with an amused smile, and pulled the last drag off of the joint, then put it out with a thought and dropped it into the ashtray by the bed. He pulled up his hoodie up over his head, then opened and wiggled out of his trousers, pulling his socks off while he was at it. Then he pulled back the cover and gestured for her to join him under it.

Probably best Em didn't think about the fact he was watching her, or she would have been too self-conscious, potentially creepy or not. But she didn't think about it, and it only took a moment anyway. She didn't watch as he got rid of his outer layers of clothes, but she wasn't conspicuous about not looking either, because it wasn't like that at all. Then she slipped under the cover, pausing a little to see how he wanted arrange themselves.

Jag gestured for her to come on over and cuddle - it was the whole point, wasn't it - but then he pushed back up on his elbow with a groan, before she could settle down. "Ugh. We left all the lights on, didn't we."

"Ugh," she agreed, trying to remember. "The kitchen too, at least. It's off in my room, I think." Em sighed. "I can get them." It wasn't like they could call Jake or Ollie to do it, just so she and Jag didn't have to get up.

"No, I can do it," Jag assured her, moving over her to get off the bed, and only just managing not to trip on his own feet as he took his first step. But then he was off, switching lights off and getting back to her. He turned off his light and closed his door, using a small flame to guide his way back to the bed. "All good," he stated when he saw she wasn't asleep yet. (You never knew! He certainly felt as if he could fall asleep in under thirty seconds.)

No, Em wasn't asleep yet. She hadn't been drinking, or smoked as much as he had, and it would've been weird going to sleep in his bed when he wasn't even there. "Good," she said, curling up beside him once he was in bed again, and hoping there wasn't anything else they were forgetting.

Jag pulled her in against him, putting the flame out as they settled down in the dark. "You should smoke pot more often," he whispered, and pronounced almost all the syllables. Or mostly this part, same difference to his brain right then.

"Corrupting influence," Em murmured, barely a sound since he was obviously drifting off already and she was not far behind. She wasn't sure about the pot yet, but this part, this was good. She missed being able to fall asleep with someone like this.
